On its 42nd founding anniversary, Capitol Medical Center finally realized the dream of its director, Dr. Thelma Navarrete-Clemente, to inaugurate the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery Complex. This brings the institution to a level at par with other hospitals offering cardiovascular services.
The new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory now provides the hospital with capability to perform invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures for coronary and structural heart disease as well as peripheral vascular diseases, which earlier on required transfer of patients to other institutions with such capability. Capitol Medical Center now offers a complete cardiovascular service to its loyal group of patients at a very affordable pricing scheme.
The laboratory is equipped with a Philips Allura FD20 system with Stent Boost feature allowing for optimal stent visualization which enhances safety, accuracy and efficacy of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions. Prior to its formal opening last June 1, 2012, a total of 47 Coronary Angiograms, 15 Percutaneous Coronary Interventions, 6 Cerebral Angiographies and 10 Peripheral diagnostic and interventional procedures were performed to familarize the staff and personnel with operating the system. Led by Dr. Vergel A. Quiogue, Head of the CMC Cardiovascular Center, with the support of Dr. Ramoncito B. Tria, invasive cardiologists Dr. Mario Victor M. Villardo and Dr. Emmanuel A. Rebollido as well as the radiology consultant staff namely Dr. Alfred A. Madamba, Dr. Renato M. Carlos, Dr. Orlando R. Ignacio and Dr. Angelito G. Tingcungco, the successful procedure demarcated a new era in the hosiptal's prestigious existence.
