Cardiovascular Surgery is a complex and challenging medical procedure performed by medical doctors who specializes in surgical procedures of the heart. This life threatening procedure with its high cost, ranging from P500,000.00 to more than P1M (depending on the type of procedure), offers major concerns to patients and families. In addition, the mental and physical stress can really cause hardships.
These are the varying reasons the Capitol Medical Center (CMC) continues to enhance its services to the public by hiring professionally qualified and skilled doctors and nurses and acquiring state-of-the-art medical equipment for its various services. Continuing its mission of providing the best medical services to patients, last April 11, 2017 the CMC TCVS-OR successfully completed its commonly referred to as heart bypass. The patient was a male tricycle driver, 55 years old and hails from Mexico, Pampanga. His chief complaint was loss of consciousness, He was diagnosed as having a 3-vessel coronary artery disease. The surgery requires the blood vessels from the aorta in order to bypass narrowed or blocked coronary arteries and to improve the blood supply to the heart muscle.
The Patient was given the best treatment available. He had the exclusive use of the TCVS-Or, which is fully equipped with advanced cardiac monitoring, anesthesia and surgical facilities. The surgical team was headed by Dr. Rector Villajuan assisted by Dr. Christia Padolina of MEPDE, Dr. Jorge Logarta, Dept. of Surgery and Dr. Sylvia Acosta, Dept. of Anesthesia.
At the TCVS-OR, the patient’s Intersivist, Dr. Jennifer Cantre together with the Nursing supervisor, head nurse and staff from PACU, SICU and MICU provided immediate post-operative needs and intensive critical care and monitoring of the patient.
The CMC TCVS-OR successfully completed its third cardiac surgical operation in April of this year. With these successful operations, and with the able guidance and support of our President, CEO and Chairman, Ms. Carmina Clemente-Desales, Capitol Medical Center is clearly on the verge of becoming a dependable provider of cardiovascular surgery to its patient.
