Capitol Medical Center at 45 A legacy of tender loving care for generations

A vision translated into action is a dream come true for Capitol Medical Center’s Founder and Chairman of the Board Dr. Thelma Navarrete-Clemente. It was inaugurated on March 19, 1970 and opened its doors to the public on June 22, 1970. To date, the Center celebrates with pride its 45th year anniversary.

CMC has grown over the years from an initial 100-bed capacity, it is now a 300-bed medical facility with state-of-the-art equipment and it continuously provides quality health care to the Filipino and global community. A cluster of five buildings located on a 7,406.5.1 square meter property along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City it has likewise revived the Capitol Medical Center Colleges that offers not just nursing but also allied medical courses. The complex provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities and has a multi-level parking for its doctors and patients.

CMC envisions itself to be a globally recognized healthcare institution. With its dedicated ethical doctors and professionals manning each of the clinical departments, nursing and support services,

A tertiary care training hospital. It is currently celebrating its forty fifth founding anniversary and it continues to serve some 100,000 patients annually in the heart of Quezon City. Accredited by PhilHealth as Level IV Center of Excellence itt has a medical staff of over 400 physicians who are established experts in their respective fields of specialization. Complementing its esteemed physicians are about 800 human resource engaged in nursing, paramedical, and administrative support services.

 

Amidst its success, the CMC has not forgotten its social responsibility to the community such as the outlying Barangay Paligsahan and Gen. Roxas Elementary School which are continuously provided with the much needed healthcare programs.

 

CMC, with the aim of offering its patient population the best and most up-to-date care in heart diseases and in keeping up with the trends in Cardiology, embarked on a program more than a year ago to develop a state-of-the-art cardiovascular service which, is already fully operational.

Foremost is the establishment of a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) located at the second floor beside the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory (formerly called the Heart Station). To complete this project, the CMC acquired a modern Philips Allura FD 20 and a complete set of accessory equipment and devices necessary in the delivery of top caliber cardiac, coronary and peripheral vascular procedures. The unit has two-bed Patient Holding Area that can serve as a short-stay Intensive Care / Telemetry unit for uncomplicated post PCI cases.

 

Dedicated to the delivery of total quality health care, the CMC has set up its own Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery Complex (TCVSC), Complemented by the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the TCVSC is equipped with the finest surgical instruments hand-picked by CMC’s Cardiac Surgeons. In addition, the TCVSC is supplemented by four cardiac recovery / intensive care units, all of which are enhanced by state-of-the-art cardiac monitors.

 

The CMC Sleep Center offers a complete range of diagnostic procedures to identify specific sleep disorders, as well as the latest treatments and therapies to manage the patient's condition from simple snoring to more severe state such as obstructive sleep apnea. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment to monitor the brain, heart, respiratory and muscle activity during sleep. This, combined with our physicians' knowledge of the latest advances in sleep-related diagnostics and treatment, enables it to provide the best care possible. The center works with patients to tailor an individualized treatment plan.

 

The CMC Ear, Nose, and Throat Center was established in 1999 to serve as the first “one-sitting–one setting” diagnostic unit of ear, nose and throat problems in a private hospital. The Voice and Swallowing Clinic, the first of its kind, was set up to address the needs of a specific group of patients --- voice professionals (teachers, preachers, singers) and dysphagic (e.g. post-“stroke”) individuals. Staffed by trained Otolaryngologists and speech-language Pathologists, it integrates Phonomedicine and Phonorehabilitation in a multidisciplinary and integrated fashion.

 

 

 The CMC Breast Care Center offers a multi-disciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of conditions affecting the breast. The center consolidates in a single setting the diagnostic modalities and the team of experts needed to effectively care for a patient with any breast problem.

 

The CMC Child Development Unit has Developmental-Behavioral Pediatricians who help coordinate the interdisciplinary team efforts of healthcare specialists, including Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists, school personnel, and Physicians to provide care for the new generation patients. It provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for children up to 18 years of age with suspected or identified developmental  delays or neuromuscular impairment. These children are referred to the center generally by their primary physician, sometimes by a teacher, therapist, friend, or other  health professional.

 

The Kidney Transplant Unit of the Capitol Medical Center offers world-class care to both adults and children with kidney problems, including those that require kidney transplantation. It provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic services from biopsy minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, donor and recipient screening, transplantation, transplant nutrition, to post-op care and counseling. The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technology and manned by highly trained multidisciplinary team of experts. The team includes a transplant surgeon, nephrologists, urologists and Anesthesiologists who are supported by Cardiologists, Infectious Specialists, Gastroenterologists, Hematologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Nutritionists, Dentists, and Social Workers.

Now on its 45th year, the CMC strives hard to offer the best to their loyal customers and determined to go full blast to become a hospital of choice for Filipinos and the world. The Throracic Cardiovascular Unit( TCVS) is ready to accept patients for By-Pass Surgery. Forthcoming projects includes establishment of the Cancer Institute, Wound Care Center, Endocrine & Metabolism, and Wellness.
