THE NEW ENDOSCOPIC VIDEO EVIS EXERA II
The Capitol Medical Center Endocopy Unit now boasts of its latest Gastrointestinal and Bronchoscopy endoscopes.
The new Olympus Evis Exera II 180 endoscopy system delivers the best possible (high definition TV) HDTV image quality with resolution that far exceeds conventional video.High-resolution HDTV imaging capability renders excellent observation of fine capillaries
and mucosal tissue.
Coupled with the Narrow Band Imaging (NBI), it enables the display of even minute capillaries and subtle mucosal tissue to be displayed with even more clarity. Narrow band imaging
gives the ability to observe capillaries and differentiate
lesions. Improved structure enhancement makes it even easier to discern subtle tissue texture and color variations on the mucosa. Examined sites can be brought close to the tip of the scope that the resulting macro images are virtually equal to magnified images. Thanks to the convenient Close Focus capability. If you need to magnify images, you can-electronic magnification capability is available to enlarge images even more. Moreover, the new slim tip construction
makes insertion easier with less discomfort and significantly shortens duration of examination. Available examinations include high definition video gastroscopy, colonoscopy and bronchoscopy performed by top specialists
in the field of gastroenterology and pulmonology. With these new endoscopes, we see better and see more!
When is a Gastroscopy necessary?
If the patient worries about pain in the stomach and the cause remains unknown, the Doctor will perform a gastroscopy. The cause of pain could be for example gastritis or a stomach ulcer. By using the endoscope the physician is able to look at the mucosa. While doing this, he is also able to see small changes like inflammation.
When is a bronchoscopy necessary?
If the patient suffers from continuing coughing or finds blood after blowing their nose or coughing. In addition to an X-ray picture, a bronchoscopy will also be made to find out the cause of these complaints.
When is a colonoscopy necessary?
A colonoscopy will be proposed by a doctor if the patient complains about pain in the lower stomach or if there is chronic diarrhea or blood in the stools. The examination is able to show if there are e.g. inflammations or polyps. Polyps can change from benign to malignant over time but, if the doctor finds the polyps in time, he is able to remove them during the examination. The existence of polyps can only be detected via a colonoscopy. Regular early detection examinations of the colon are very important since polyps can cause pain if left undetected.
