The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) otherwise known as PhilHealth, accredited Capitol Medical Center as Center of Excellence, affirming that the hospital meets the highest standards for patient care according to PhilHealth Benchbook Standards. This further means that CMC patients are all the more assured of receiving excellent care at Capitol Medical Center.
The Center of Excellence award is the most coveted being the highest of three awards that a hospital can obtain. The other two levels of accreditation are Center of Safety and Center of Quality. The Center of Excellence award is gauged by the hospital's performance on 7 key performance areas namely: Patient Rights and Organization Ethics; Patient Care Leadership and Management; Human Resource Management; Information Management; Safe Practice and Environment; and Performance Improvement. Last May 4-5, 2012. CMC satisfactorily passed PhilHealth's evaluation through document reviews, interviews, and observations in the hospital.
After two years of rigorous preparation, CMC finally achieved Center of Excellence recognition. This feat has been attributed to the entire CMC Officers and staff. If not for their full cooperation, perseverance and hard work, this achievement would have not been realized. This has also inspired Dr. Thelma Navarrete-Clemente, CMC Chairman of the Board to work on a higher accreditation level. Dr. Clemente expressed her sincere gratitude and congratulations to the entire CMC Officers and staff for a job well done...She then challenged everyone to maintain not only the local recognition but also attain a worldwide level of acknowledgment.
The CQI department under the able leadership of Dr. Lilia P. Luna spearheaded the preparation for Philhealth accreditation.
